Travel, hotels and hostels in Ljubljana
You should aim to be in Ljubljana by the Sunday night (8 June) at the very latest (Saturday night for the committee) as we cannot wait for Monday morning flights and late arrivals. It is your responsibility to arrange and pay for any accommodation in Ljubljana before and after the workshop.
A bus will be picking us up in Ljubljana at 08.00 on Monday 9 June to take us to the workshop venue (about a 2 hour trip) from Hotel Slon (see below). On the Friday, a bus will pick us up from the venue at 13.00 and take us to the airport and the city: it would be wise not to book an outgoing flight until at least 18.00.
Hotel We have arranged for a 10% discount from Hotel Slon, which is close to the city centre and its sights. If you want to take advantage of this, go to their web site https://www.hotelslon.com/ and when you book enter ANDINA under the discount code. The discount will apply to bookings made before 8 May 2025. Note that the closer you get to the cut-off date, the higher the prices will be.
There are other hotels near the city centre at a range of prices. However, Hotel Slon is where the bus will pick us up on the Monday. It will also be the location for the committee meeting on the Sunday and the meet-up point for anyone who would like to join the committee for evening meals/drinks on the Saturday and Sunday.
Hostel For those with a restricted budget, we recommend Hostel Celica https://www.hostelcelica.com/ There are several other hostels, but this is an old prison with interesting decor and is a 20 minute walk from Hotel Slon.
Travel from airport There are various options for getting to the city from the airport (a distance of 26 km): see this web site https://www.welcomepickups.com/ljubljana/airport-to-city/ If you use a taxi, beware of potential scams: make sure that it departs from the main taxi rank and ask what the cost will be (about 30 Euro).
